In Calabria, 4 km from the Ionian Sea and along the Amendolea river, lies a small village, San Carlo di Condofuri. It encompasses so much: the history of many cultures that came from the sea, mountains overlooking the sea creating extraordinary views, ancient recipes handed down in a nearly extinct language, Grecanico, and the scents of citrus fruits. Among these is the famous bergamot, which grows and bears fruit only in this narrow strip of land in the heart of Magna Grecia, a source of pride for our land, but also the "sanguinella" orange (blood orange) and lemon.
And it is thanks to Elisabetta's family and grandparents that we can still enjoy these fruits today in the form of jams.
The fruit is harvested during its peak ripeness, when it is rich in natural sugars. For this reason, no more than 20% sugar is added during processing. Furthermore, it is free of added thickeners thanks to the pectin contained in the citrus peels. It is not blended by choice, to maintain as much as possible a consistency that releases its flavor for a long time!
With teamwork between Calabria and Marche, we can say that we have found the right recipe to honor these 4 fruits and enjoy them throughout the year!
Supplies are always limited to the production carried out, sometimes minimal, because no antibiotics or pesticides are used.
The joy of savoring such a natural jam will also make those behind this entire small supply chain happy!
Thank you, family!
